1. aspersion => a(to : ~에게) + spers(strew : 흩뿌리다) + ion => ~에게 (나쁜 말을) 흩뿌리다/하다 => 비방

syn) slander, defamation, libel, calumny, detraction, mudslinging, backbiting, discredit, vilification, impugnment

asperse 헐뜯다	aspersion 비방
disperse 흩뜨리다	dispersal / dispersion 산포, 분포	sparse 드문드문한

For example

 How dare you attack the name of Norton Boy's School by slandering our highly qualified teaching staff. Your aspersions are only a vicious attempt to avenge your dismissal by abasing our reputation.

 - slander 중상하다, 비방하다
