1. assimilate => as(to : ~로) + simil(same : 같다) + ate => 같은 쪽으로 만들다 => 흡수하다, 동화하다

For example

 Do you realize the massive amount of information an aspiring doctor must absorb? His brain must assimilate more in four years than it has taken in in the previous 20 years of school.

2. assurance => as(to : ~에게) + sur(certain : 확신을 주다) + rance => ~에게 확신을 주다 => 확신, 보장

For example

 Without an ironclad promise of support from the unions, I can't risk voting against this legislation. I need assurance from the labor leader himself.

 - ironclad 깨뜨릴 수 없는, 엄격한

 - the unions : 노조

 - risk + ~ing : 위험을 무릎쓰고 ~하다

4. acclimate => ac(to : ~로) + clim(ladder : 사다리) + ate => 사다리를 타고 서서히 올라가다 => 적응시키다, 적응하다
